PROLOGUE

This is the story of a superhero, the Computer Renegade, as told through
the eyes of his faithful bionic German Shepard Otto.   Disguised as
Accountant Nathan Lovejoy, the Renegade and his friends fight a never
ending battle against crime, injustice and danger.  This is another entry
from Otto's "personal log."

The Renegade Files -- "Girls Night Out"

Although I have been only "self aware" for a short period of time, I'm
beginning to understand more about the things I do not know about females,
in particular, my wife Samantha, Starlight the white horse and Wanna
Lovejoy, my master's wife.   I could not have predicted the chain of
events that had occurred this evening.

My master, aka the Computer Renegade and I had 'zapped' ourselves to San
Francisco to handle an emergency.  It was around 6PM and Wanna, Starlight
and Samantha were all in the stable area doing what in human term is
called "girl talk."   

"Why doesn't Nathan take me with him when he goes flying off on those
rescues of his?" Wanna asked the others

"Probably the same reason why I don't get to accompany Otto, ma'am,"
Samantha sadly replies,"he is always telling me, 'darling, this is very
dangerous, perhaps you can come next time'  I'm getting very tired of him
saying that, why does he act like that?"

"As an impartial observer," Starlight spoke,"I would probably have to say
that your spouses feel that you will perhaps get injured or simply....
what is it humans say.....  get in the way, but they both do love you,
always remember that."

"I understand that, Starlight," Wanna said with a heavy sigh,"but I'd like
to help Nathan and Otto out.   I've been taking Tae-Kwan Do lessons from
the Computer Counseller all this time, she says that I'm quite good!  
Uncle Boford has been showing me how to use all those black boxes my
husband carries with him, too."

"I know what you mean, ma'am," Samantha agreed,"it was Uncle Buford who
gave me this wonderful collar as a wedding present, he said it had much of
the same circuitry found in all those black boxes Nathan has.   Otto
taught me how to use it to send out anti-gravity beams, form force fields,
teleport myself and other objects, even make things invisible, too.    
But he still won't let me come with him on any of his 'missions.'   It's
not fair!"

"Don't feel too bad, ladies," Starlight quietly muttered,"I'm in the same
boat with you two.   Even though I was built with all the same abilities
as Otto, Nathan has never once asked me to accompany him anywhere, I could
be of great assistance to them...."

"So could I!" Wanna interrupted,"I even sewed together a white costume and
mask to wear, when or even if he lets me go with him."

"I can help, too!" Samantha barked,"besides, remember what Uncle Buford
told me the day he gave me this special collar?  He said that now I could
help my husband fight crime, and I want to do that!"

"Samantha, have you been able to master all of the collar's functions?"
Starlight asked,"since your collar is controlled by your personal
brainwaves, it takes skilled concentration to operate it properly, and
.........."

Starlight suddenly stopped speaking, "what's the matter?" Wanna asked her.

"I'm picking up some radio messages on my built-in receiver," Starlight
explained," and there's been a massive jail break at the Attica Prison in
upstate New York, Otto radioed a reply stating that he and the Renegade
were still tied up in San Francisco for a while."

"Oh no!" Samantha exclaimed,"if only we could help....."

"Why not!" Wanna shreiked,"the boys are too busy, so it's up to us!"

"Are you sure we should do this, ma'am?" Samantha asked.

"Yes, I'm sure!"  Wanna answered,"I'll go put on my costume, are you gals
with me?"

"I am!" Starlight replied.

"Count me it, too!" Samantha said.

"Ok, we'll zapped ourselves to Uncle Buford's lab first, so I can borrow
some of his black boxes," Wanna said as she ran to her bedroom to change.

"I'll download all the information I can about the area of the breakout
and continue to monitor all the police frequencenies." Starlight added.

A few minutes later, Starlight, Samantha and Wanna arrived (with a loud
BOOM!) near the entrance of the prison.

"Ladies," Starlight said,"I have more information, according to the
messages I've been receiving, there were 23 immates that left the prison,
all in a commandeered bus.   My scans are detecting that bus to be
traveling due east of here and moving towards a place called Jones
Junction, a small town of ....."

"Starlight, enough of the demographics," Wanna said in a state of
panic,"zap us there, NOW!"

"As you wish, Wanna!" Starlight said as she once more activated her
teleportation circuitry.

Immediately, the three would-be heroines were standing on a street corner
near where the bus full of escaped convicts was stopping. 

"Now ladies!" Wanna said as she pointed her finger into the air,"let's
take them!"

"Wait," Samantha said,"we need a plan."

"Ladies, leave it to me!" Starlight said as she ran swiftly around the bus
so fast that the prisoners inside didn't even see her.

"What did you do, Starlight?"  Samantha asked.

"Just watch!" Samantha said with a chuckle.

Soon, there were shouts and screams of anger coming from the bus.   Soon,
small metal 'lumps' began appearing on the sides of bus as the convicts
began beating on them and attempting to smash out windows.

Starlight stood there laughing and blirted out,"I spot welded all the
emergency doors and windows shut with my laser beam eyes!   I even
disabled the engine, too"

"Looks like that'll hold them until the police arrive!" Samantha said
happily.

"Not so fast, gang," Starlight cautioned,"more radio messages coming in,
some of the convicts had already gotten off the bus a few miles before it
came here.   Those prisoners have somehow gotten arms and has several
police units pinned down in an alley, we have to go there now!"

With a loud BOOM! the trio of ladies arrived just a thousand yards from
the alley, the sound of repeated gunfire rung out in the night air.  "I
can't get a teleport lock on the cops," Starlight explained,"there are so
many humans with guns in that area, I can't tell the good guys from the
bad guys using only my scanners.   We'll have to put ourselves between the
pinned down officers and the thugs, turn on your force fields now and I'll
zap us there so we can at least shield the police from the gunfire until I
can zap them to safety, are we ready?"

"I'm ready!" Samantha barked.

"Me too," Wanna said as she reached for a black box from under her
cape,"do it!"

In an instant, they appeared that Starlight's set location.  One of the
officers shouted,"where did they come from?" another yelled,"get out of
here, you're gonna get yourselves killed!"   Three cons holding automatic
weapons walked slowly towards the trio and shouted,"hey you dumb broad,
get out of here and take Lassie and Mister Ed there with ya!"

"Forgive the pun, gentlemen," Starlight shouted,"but we're through horsing
around with you thugs!"

Hearing this, the three opened fire once more, and were stunned as they
watched their bullets bounce off the trio's force fields.

"My turn!" Starlight yelled as she fired three quick shots of her laser
beam eyes which melted the barrels of the convicts automatic weapons.  

"Time to wrap things up!" Wanna yelled as she produced a black box from
her cape, aimed and pushed the button.   This device shot out electronic
'handcuffs' that quickly wrapped around the fleeing felon's legs, forcing
them to fall to the ground.

"YES!" Wanna screamed,"that takes care of all the escaped cons, right?"

"Wrong!" Starlight cautioned,"twenty three prisoners escaped, I can detect
only ninteen in the sealed bus and three here, so there's one left
somewhere."

A shout came out from a nearby rooftop,"I'm up here, horseface!   I have
hostages, and if you don't let all my buddies loose, I swear I'll waste
all of them!"

"Oh no," Starlight whispered to Wanna,"I need time to use my scanners to
find ....  where's Samantha?"

"Time's up, Trigger!" the voice yelled out again,"now someone's going to
....  YOW!!!!!"

"I think Samantha is up there taking a bite out of crime!" Wanna said with
a giggle.

"GO AWAY LASSIE!" the voice screamed out in pain.  With a loud BOOM! 
Samantha and the last escaped prisoner appeared on the street directly in
front of the others.   The stunned man was so shaken up by the experince,
he ran toward the police in the alley and begged them to arrest him!   The
police officers emerged from behind their squad cars, totally surprised by
the series of events they had all just witnessed.  Wanna turned to one of
them and asked,"is everyone alright?"   

"We're all just fine," the officer replied,"none of us were wounded or
killed, thanks to you and your animal friends."

"Here's four of the Attica escapees," Starlight explained," and the rest
of them are stuck in a bus in Jones Junction,"

"I know," the officer said,"I just got a report on the radio that those
men were picked up by the authorities there, and it took a blowtorch to
open the bus doors!"

Starlight and Samantha giggled.   "Hey, miss!" another officer said as she
walked up to Wanna,"who are you?  You're definately not the Computer
Renegade and Otto, just who are you?"

"I'm the Masked Mellita!" Wanna said with a heroic lilt in her voice,"and
these are my friends Samantha the collie and Starlight the wonder horse! 
You could say we're friends of the Renegade and came to help you in your
time of need!"

Moments later, with a loud BOOM!  the Renegade and I appeared on the
street,  and seeing (to our surprise) that the situation was already under
control.   At first, my master was furious,"STARLIGHT... SAMANTHA....
AND....."

"The Masked Mellita!" Wanna interrupted,"you do remember me, don't you,
Renegade?"

"We decided to take care of things here since you two had your hands full
elsewhere," Starlight explained.

"I see," the Renegade spoke as he saw the officers taking the convicts
away in handcuffs,"why on earth did you...."

"Because we were needed," Wanna said,"and we proved that we ladies can do
the job!"

"But Samantha...."  I started to say.

"But what, darling?" Samantha replied,"I know you're going to say 'what if
something would've happened to you?' but isn't that what I ask myself
everytime YOU go out on a mission?"

"Yeah, but....."

"You know I'm right, don't you?   Well, Uncle Buford prepared ALL of us to
fight crime and help humanity, so will you and your master please stop
trying to discourage us and let us help you guys?"

The Renegade walked over to Samantha and said,"I guess you have a point,
Sam.   Ok, for now on, we'll all work together, OK?"

"YES!!"  Wanna screamed as she hugged her husband tightly.

"Well, all the convicts are in custody," Starlight observed,"so it's time
we all returned home."

"Ok," I agreed,"Samantha, will you zap us all back?"

"Sure, honey!" Samantha answered as we all vanished with a loud BOOM!

Instantly, we were all standing in a sunlit area under a sign that
read,"Welcome to Guam."

"Oops," Samantha said with a whimper.

"Well," I said with a grin,"it appears that I need to train you some more
on teleportation techniques."
